RADIOLARIA: Sacred Geometry
2019
Modern example of Scherenschnitt, a16th century German art form of paper cutting.
Each piece is framed to 18" x 18" x 2", sandwiched between Plexiglas and casting intricate shadows on the wall behind them.

"Radiolaria are protozoa that produce intricate mineral skeletons, typically with a central capsule dividing the cell into inner and outer portions of endoplasm and ectoplasm, mostly spherically symmetrical, known for their complex and beautiful skeletons." In these times, my need was to look within to honor the complexity, beauty and mystery of the natural world.
